2015. New Year, New Beginning?

2015 is right around the corner and it is time for new years resolutions to be made. When I was younger I always made the typical new years resolutions; to be slimmer, to be healthier etc. but I seen something at the end of 2012 which made me stop making new years resolutions.

'Why wait till the new year to better yourself? Start tomorrow. Tomorrow is just as good as January 1st to be a better you.'

Just because I don't keep new years resolutions, doesn't mean I am perfect in any way, I could easily set a few such as: staying healthy, stop procrastinating etc. but I believe that you can set these goals any time in life. They don't have to be new years resolutions. Last year I set no resolutions and at the start of summer this year it was my goal to stay healthy and I stuck to it.

I understand the idea of people wanting to start the year afresh and wanting to become a better person in the coming year, but it makes me wonder, if you really wanted to change so much, tomorrow is as good a day as any to become a better person.

I am not saying that new years resolutions shouldn't be kept, I actually think it's great to see people striving to have a healthier, happier lifestyle, but I feel that you don't have to wait till the new year to start to pursue your goal. You can start tomorrow.

Regardless of keeping resolutions or not, I hope you guys have an awesome start to the new year and have the best year! Hope you keep any resolutions/ achieve any goals you may have!

What do you guys think? Do you have any new years resolutions for next year? What are they?xox

  2. I made some resolutions this year, but I usually think that monthly and weekly goals are more likely to be achieved ♥

  3. I agree with what you are saying, you shouldn't always have to make changes around New Year just because of the time of year it is. Wishing you a Happy New Year! x

  4. I totally agree with making resolutions at any point during the year and not waiting until Jan 1st! I read somewhere that one blogger, rather than making new years resolutions, she reflects on the positive changes she made during the year. I loved that mentality, focusing on the positive from the previous year!

  6. Heck yeah I have new years resolutions! But you already knew that ;) I think it's nice though when you can look back on the year and remind yourself how much you've accomplished

  10. I once read something in the lines of “We all still have the same wounds. It’s just a new year, not a new you.” And I find that it's so true. We always think that a new year will be the opportunity to change everything but it's not. I don't think one can wait until a year is over and then expect to be like a different person. It's not easy to lose bad habits overnight and that's the case with the new year, also. So I actually really agree with your opinion. But it's that thought of the people that counts. If they actually stick to their resolutions and their year is going to be a really good year, then it's as good for them!x

    1. That quote is so true, I think it is a common misconception that bad habits can be totally wiped away overnight. I think it is always best to gradually work towards your goals and then there is a better chance of you achieving them!

  11. I agree as well. Although I think it still depends on how people look at it since it's a common assumption that a new year is a new/fresh start, so it's an easier marker for them to do some changes in their lives than doing it at a random date in the year. I do agree with you that you can technically apply resolutions any time you want. In the end it'll all depend on the person if they'll continue to carry out their resolutions through the rest of the year though, and personally I think that's all that matters, lol. I don't really like making New Year's Resolutions imo since I relatively forget it a few weeks in since I feel like I didn't really mean what I said I'd do unless it's not made during New Years. I dunno, but I guess it was more on the heat of the moment than a real life-changing decision for me : /

    1. I agree, resolutions do work for some people but personally never work for me and if I try to keep them, I usually do forget or give up before February xox

  12. I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, I'm that kind of person who needs a new year/month/week etc to start. :D My most important New Year's resolutions are to exercise 5 times a week (that's probably in everybody's list), drink more water and once a month no social media for 24h.

    1. Drinking more water is definitely one of my goals! I realised during school last year that I simply was not drinking enough water so I started drinking at least a bottle a day and my skin has improved so much!
