Review- Benefit 'they're real push-up liner'

A couple of weeks ago I was in boots and wandered into the benefit counter when I came across their newest product(s). The 'they're real push-up liner'. I had previously seen reviews from various beauty gurus about this product and I thought I'd try it out myself. The lovely girl at the counter insisted she would try it on me, so after seeing how it looked on I purchased it. When I was in the middle of buying it, the girl told me that I should buy the remover with it as I couldn't remove it with my normal makeup wipes, so I purchased that too.

This product claims to be smudge free and waterproof free, and when the girl was demonstrating it in the shop it smudged...both times. Awkward.
However I wanted to try it out myself. I bought this product for £18.50 which I wouldn't normally pay for an eyeliner as it is a little too pricey.

So before I show you me testing it out, I'll show you what the applicator is like. It is like a rubbery applicator and whenever you want to use it, you have to twist it up once from the bottom. I think it is very easy to apply especially because I'm terrible at applying gel liner!

These are 3 fine lines I made on my hand. They can be made thicker by pressing down more or thinner by pressing down less.

This is after me attempting to smudge it with my other hand. They did smudge a little, but not too much and not too easily.

Next I did the water test and the eyeliner held up pretty well!

I then attempted to smudge it after it being in water and it still held up pretty well.

So along with the eyeliner, I also purchased the remover as I was told it would be very hard to remove if I didn't purchase it.

Before using the remover, I tried to remove one of the lines with a 'simple cleansing facial wipe'.
With not too much hassle and rubbing, the wipe removed the eyeliner perfectly and there was no need for the remover.

Next I tried removing the eyeliner with the remover. The middle picture is the eyeliner with the remover rubbed in, and the last picture is my hand after washing the remover off.
The remover doesn't work as well as it should, it claims to dissolve the eyeliner, however after using it there was still some product left on my hand.

This was my honest review of the Benefit 'they're real push-up eyeliner and remover'. I really like the eyeliner itself as it is super easy to apply and doesn't mess up easily, however I don't think the remover at £14.50 was very good as it still left an eyeliner mark. I think if you are going to buy this product it would be a lot cheaper to buy your own remover. I recommend the simple makeup wipes (oil free) or any oil based makeup remover.
Hope this review was helpful and do tell me if you have tried this product and what you think of it!xox

  1. This eyeliner looks really interesting and I've heard so much about it but I think it's a bit expensive for my liking! I would also never spend so much on a remover, it's a shame it doesn't work well! xx

    1. yeah it was a bit of a letdown! I agree, I think the eyeliner itself is a bit too pricey the max I would usually go is around £10 because I don't wear eyeliner that often anyway xx
